Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Hillsboro shall meet in regular session on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Historic City Hall, 127 E. Franklin Street in Hillsboro, Texas.  The matters to be discussed and acted upon are as follows:           

• 1. Call Meeting to Order.
• 2. Invocation.
• 3. Pledge of Allegiance.
• 4. Hear Statements from Persons Wishing to Address the Council.

Consent Agenda 

• 5. Deliberate and Act on the Approval of the Regular Meeting of May 5, 2009.
• 6. Act on the Approval of Bills. 

Regular Agenda 

• 7. Presentation of the Certification of Unopposed Candidates to Council by the City Secretary.
• 8. Deliberate and Act to Approve a Resolution Canvassing the Returns and Declaring the Results of the City Officials Election Held on May 9, 2009 and, Accepting the Certification of Unopposed Candidates.
• 9. Deliberate and Act to Approve a Resolution Canvassing the Returns For the May 9, 2009, City-Wide Special Election of a Proposition Calling for the Adoption of an Ordinance Establishing a Limit on the Total Amount of Taxes That May Be Imposed on the Residence Homestead of a Disabled Person or Person Sixty-Five (65) Years of Age or Older Pursuant to Article 8, Section 1-b(h) of the Texas Constitution and Texas Tax Code Section 11.261; Making Other Findings and Provisions Related to the Subject; and Providing an Effective Date.
• 10. Hold a Public Hearing, First Reading of an Ordinance, and Deliberate on Amending Chapter 11, Taxation, Article 11.400 Tax Exemptions of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Hillsboro, Texas, By Adding a New Section 11.402, Tax Limit For Qualified Persons: Tax Limit For Disabled Persons or Persons 65 Years of Age or Older; Establishing an Annual Cap on City Ad Valorem Taxes For Qualifying Individuals Pursuant to Article 8, Section 1-b(h) of the Texas Constitution and Section 11.261 of the Texas Tax Code; Making Other Findings and Provisions Related to the Subject; Providing a Repealer Clause, A Severability Clause, A Savings Clause and Providing an Effective Date.
