For more than one hundred twenty years, the Hillsboro Fire Department has served and protected the citizens of Hillsboro. The Hillsboro Fire Department was founded in 1883.  After a century, an ambulance service was added in January 1983. The department name was formally changed to Hillsboro Fire/Rescue in February of 1993.
