			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The City of Hillsboro elects Council members by Precinct.  The City is divided into five (5) districts (precincts) and candidates must live in the precinct they serve.  These precincts are designated Councilmember Places 1 through 5.  The Mayor and Council Place 6 are elected At-Large which allows every registered voter to cast a vote for those positions.  The Mayor and Places 1, 3, and 5 are elected in odd-numbered years and Places 2, 4, and 6 are elected in even-numbered years.  All positions serve 2 year terms and there are no term limits.  The current council includes:</p>

<p>Applications will be accepted for Place 2, 4 and 6 which is Elected At-Large for the May 2010 Election.  The City Council will officially call for the election at their February 2nd meeting.  <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The first day to file an application with the City Secretary to be a candidate is February 6, 2010 and the last day to file is 5:00 p.m. on March 8, 2010.</strong></span> Information on qualifications for candidates and applications are available by contacting City Secretary, Karen S. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hillsboro To Host Assistance to Firefighters Grant Workshop</p>

<p>Location: Historic City Hall, 127 E. Franklin Street. Hillsboro TX 76645</p>
<p>The Assistance to Firefighters Grant is a program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Grants are awarded to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect the public and fire service personnel from fire and related hazards. Three types of grants are available: Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER), and Fire Prevention and Safety Grants (FP&amp;S).</p>
<p>These grants are made directly to local fire and EMS agencies to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS agencies.  In 2008 some $737.5 million was awarded to more than 6,000 agencies across the nation.  In some grants, no local match is required.  You can read more about the program at www.firegrantsupport.com.</p>
<p>Each year workshops are conducted to review the changes in the program and assist department prepare competitive applications.  A representative from the Grant Program Office will discuss 2010 grant goals for the AFG, SAFER and Fire Prevention grants as well as details of the application and tips on how to write a competitive application.  The workshop session is free to all participants and will include ample time for questions. <p>Review an Application submitted by Hill County Paw Pals for a Preliminary and Final Plat of “Hill County Paw Pals Addition”, Lot 1, Block 1, to the City of Hillsboro, Texas. This is the Same Tract of Land Described as All that Certain Lot, Tract or Parcel of Land Lying and Situated in The City of Hillsboro, in the Dixon Spears Survey, Abstract 838, &amp; the Henry Ross Survey, Abstract No. 755, Hill County, Texas, being all of that certain tract of land described as 3.083 acres in the Warranty Deed from Hillsboro Auction Company to Hill County Paw Pals recorded in Volume 1625, Page 516 in the Official Public Records of Hill County, Texas. This Property is Located at 1500 Abbott Ave.</p>
<p>The City Council will meet Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 7:00 p.m. at The Historic City Hall, 127 E. Franklin Street in Hillsboro, Texas to act upon the recommendations of the Commission.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HILLSBORO WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING AT CITY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 214 EAST ELM STREET, HILLSBORO, TEXAS ON MONDAY, March 8, 2010 AT 6:00 P.M. TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:</p>
<p>The City of Hillsboro, Texas, under the provision of Chapter 43 of the Texas Local Government Code, proposes to institute annexation proceedings to enlarge and extend All that certain lot, tract or parcel of land lying in the Dixon Spears Survey, Abstract 836 and the Henry Ross Survey, Abstract 755, being a part of that certain tract of land described as 3.08 acres in the Warranty Deed from Hillsboro Auction Company to Hill County Paw Pals dated December 31, 2009, recorded in Volume 1625, Page 516 of the Official Public Records of Hill County, Texas, and being more particularly described as follows:</p>
<p>BEGINNING at a ½ inch iron rod at the northwest corner of the above mentioned 3.08 acre tract;</p>
<p>THENCE North 69 degrees 08 minutes 37 seconds East 201.70 feet to a point for a corner lying on a westerly City of Hillsboro city limit line Ordinance 84-29;</p>
<p>THENCE South 17 degrees 03 minutes 06 seconds East 290.49 feet along said westerly City limit line to a point for a corner lying on the southerly line of the said 3.08 acre tract;</p>
<p>THENCE South 71 degrees 13 minutes 18 seconds West 201.25 feet along said southerly line to a 5/8 inch iron for at the southwest corner of the said 3.08 acre tract;</p>
<p>THENCE North 17 degrees 03 minutes 06 seconds West 283.17 feet along the westerly line of the said 3.08 acre tract to the point of beginning and containing 1.32 acres of land.</p>
<p>The City Council will conduct a Special Meeting on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. for 1st reading and a regular meeting on March 16, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. for 2nd reading at The Historic City Hall, 127 E. Franklin Street in Hillsboro, Texas, to act upon the recommendations of the Commission.</p>
