Burn Ban for Hill County has Expired
The emergency outdoor burn ban for Hill County expired on Monday, July 5, after being in effect for seven days. Since the emergency order was issued, most areas of the county have received additional rainfall.
The burn ban could possibly be reconsidered at the next meeting of the Hill County Commissioners’ Court on July 13th.
Important Information about burns inside the city:
The City of Hillsboro is actually under a burn ban at all times, with the exception of prescribed control burns, which are rarely authorized.
If a burn inside the city limits is allowed, it must meet state and local guidelines as stated in the 2003 Fire Code (IFC). The complete Fire Code can be found here.
