Flu Update
This is the latest information.
- There are no cases of H1N1 (swine flu) inHill County.
- There are no high-probable cases of H1N1 (swine flu) inHill County
- The City of Hillsboro/Hill County Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor the situation and participate in daily Planning Conference calls. We receive public health updates daily.
- Surveillance, including testing is on-going. Samples continue to be sent to the DSHS lab for confirmation. We will be contacted on the results for each sample as they are processed. DSHS has increase the lab capacity to meet the increase demand.
- The Health District is not recommending the cancellation of any events in Hill County at this time. Event organizers should encourage all participants to stay home if they are sick. Organizations should work with their membership regarding absentee issues. Anyone who is sick should stay home.
- The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has a toll-free information line to answer any questions you may have about the H1N1 (swine flu). The number is 1-888-777-5320.
- There have been 43 confirmed cases of H1N1 flu in Texas. The total includes 5 residents of Mexico.

Texas has 254 counties.
There has been one death in Texas. A young boy from Mexico City who had underlying health problems died last month in a Houston-area hospital.
On going DSHS recommendations
On the recommendation of Dr. David Lakey, Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, and in consultation with Texas Education Agency Commissioner Robert Scott, the University Interscholastic League is altering its schedule of events due to the outbreak of the swine flu in Texas.
