1881-Hillsborough becomes incorporated and the railroad arrives.
1888-Post Office changes the spelling of the town to Hillsboro.
1890-Population reaches 2,000.
1903-Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway begins serving the town.
1909-New city hall, fire and police station are constructed.
1915-Hillsboro receives its first charter.
1923-Hillsboro Junior College established.
1936-Six manufacturers supplement area’s primary occupation:
agriculture, mainly cotton.
1962-Hillsboro becomes a home-rule city with a council-manager form
of government.
1970-Hillsboro has 210 businesses and 21 industries.
1990-Population reaches 7,072.
2000-Population reaches 8,232.
