SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR CITY COUNCIL PLACE 2 VACANCY

Councilmember Larry Lloyd has resigned effective June 30, 2026 and vacated the Place 2 seat of the Hillsboro City Council.

In accordance with the City of Hillsboro Charter, Section 3.06, Vacancies, Forfeiture, and Filling of Vacancies, Councilmember vacancies may be filled by Council appointment and the selected appointee serves until the next regular City Election. 

The process to fill the vacancy will follow the following procedure established by Council in 2005.  Persons interested in the position can come forward for consideration by submitting a Letter of Interest describing their interest and qualifications to serve.  The deadline for submitting Letters of Interest will be July 13, 2026 at noon.

The City Secretary’s office will review applicants and present the candidates to the Council in advance of their meeting on July 21, 2026.  The Council may choose to interview candidates at that time.

Letters will be accepted for anyone who has lived in Place 2 for at least one year. Letters of interest, outlining an applicant's qualifications and interest in serving may be sent to the following:
