Objective                                                       

To ensure that city park grounds and facilities are properly maintained and to perform a variety of other tasks as assigned.

General Statement of Duties                       

To maintain the parks by the means of cleaning, mowing, baseball field work, and general upkeep of the restrooms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities         

  1. Clean and pick up trash in parks, restrooms, etc.;
  2. Mow and trim parks;
  3. Maintain equipment;
  4. Basic carpentry work using hand tools, painting, etc.;
  5. Baseball field work, infield, bases, pitching mounds, and outfield work;  
  6. Fix minor water leaks and sprinkler leaks; and
  7. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Ability to evaluate the need for and be able to perform various repairs; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to add and subtract two digit numbers; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city personnel and the general public; and basic carpentry skills.

Physical Ability                                            

Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort with an emphasis on the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (10-100 pounds); ability to stand or walk for extended periods; ability to use hands to handle or feel; and ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Sensory Requirements                                 

Tasks require visual and sound perception and the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors                                

Tasks risk exposure to extreme weather conditions; exposure to moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; exposure to vibration; working in loud conditions.
